The County Council in Lambton, South Ontario, Canada, is looking into the pros and cons of building a convention centre, following up on a suggestion from St. Clair Township Mayor Steve Arnold, according to local media.
Warden Bill Weber said three options of location, size and cost in the Sarnia/Point Edward area are under consideration. He added the area’s cross-border location should make it attractive for conferencing and events.
“We hope the study sparks some interest, maybe in the private sector. I imagine that staff will look at convention centres in other municipalities as well. It may not come to fruition but it’s something we have to look at, all options for the betterment of the county,” Weber said.
No timeline has been published for completion of the council study, although Sarnia is the largest city in the county and most likely location.
