The MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas has topped out its 23,225sqm expansion and invited 100 construction workers to join its MGM Resorts and MGM Grand executives on site to sign the last of nearly 2,700 individual steel beams before it was lifted into place by a 270-foot-tall, 125-ton crane.
The $130m project is due to open at the end of 2018. When the expansion is completed, the conference center will total nearly 80,000sqm. The new expansion includes:
- 510sqm outdoor courtyard for private events
- 4,552sqm ballroom
- 2,972sqm ballroom
- 3 junior ballrooms
- 11 breakout rooms
The Stay Well Meetings spa area is also expanding its footprint by over 2,000sqm, encompassing the conference centre’s entire second floor.
MGM Grand’s new space comes on the heels of expansions at sister properties Mandalay Bay and ARIA.
Mandalay Bay completed a 32,500sqm expansion, while ARIA is currently adding 18,580sqm. Upon completion of these projects, MGM Resorts International will offer a total of 371,600sqm of meeting and convention space within a two-mile stretch on the Las Vegas Strip.
