MALAYSIA - Sarawak outbid tough international competitors from Australia and India to win hosting rights of the ICCA Asia Pacific Client and Supplier business Workshop and the Asia Pacific Educational Seminar.
The three-day event from 4 to 6 July 2012 will welcome 15 ICCA members and their association clients to converge for a B2B session.
This workshop, although small in size, will provide the key decision-makers of international associations to meet and sample Sarawak’s offering for international meetings and to showcase tourism products.
The one-day ICCA Asia Pacific Educational Seminar will follow the workshop and offer a great learning opportunity to the entire Malaysian meetings industry, supply chain and the local community about the importance of this market segment and how to win more business in the future.
The winning bid was a collaborative effort of ‘Team Malaysia’ consisting of Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, AOS Conventions and Events, Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau and Sarawak Convention Bureau.
ICCA’s Regional Director Asia Pacific, Noor Ahmad, said: “Sarawak’s bid came out the best in all aspects and hosting of key decision makers is important as the destination would have the privilege to showcase its product and services at its best.”
EUROPE - Over 100 delegates from the Greek meetings industry attended EFAPCO's Think Forum in Athens to tackle issues currently facing the sector, most notably the lack of recognition from the Greek government.
AUSTRALASIA - International event planners have able to get a sneak preview of the new under-construction International Convention Centre (ICC) in Sydney with the launch of a virtual fly-through video.
