Australia moved up to claim the 10th position while Spain fell from sixth to ninth position. Korea moved two places to sixth position and the UK fell out of the top 10 rankings.
In terms of the city rankings, the first five cities stayed in their ranks with Singapore leading with 8.9 per cent of all qualifying meetings held. Budapest joined the top 10 and Madrid fell out of the top 10 rankings.
The statistics are based on information systematically collected by the UIA Congress Department and selected according to strict criteria maintained over the years.
Meetings taken into consideration include those organised and/or sponsored by the international organisations which appear in the Yearbook of International Organizations and in the International Congress Calendar.
Not included are purely national meetings as well as those of an exclusively religious, didactic, political, commercial, or sporting nature, and corporate and incentive meetings.
The total number of meetings in the UIA database are 377,055.
