Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC), in Scotland, has been hosting two groups of visitors from across the globe as part of the venue’s contribution to an international showcase designed to show the city and region’s potential as an events destination.
The AECC, along with VisitAberdeenshire, hosted organisers for two separate visits over the past week, part of a series of familiarisation trips, which included whistle-stop tours of key venues and activities for possible inclusion in conference programmes.
Organisers and event planners came from France, Holland, Sweden and Ireland and venues visited included the Chester Hotel, the Beach Ballroom, Meldrum House Hotel and Crathes Castle.
The visitors were also taken on a dolphin adventure cruise in the North Sea, and visited The Silver Darling Restaurant to sample some of the local seafood the region is famed for.
A mini highland games was part of the agenda, which boasted activities such as haggis hurling and tossing the caber.
AECC’s director of sales and marketing, Louise Lonie commented: “Familiarisation trips are incredibly important to AECC and play a large role in the sales and marketing strategy, as well as allowing our teams to share their passion for the region with our clients and prospective clients.”
