Calgary to host Master Brewers Conference

The 2019 Master Brewers Conference will be hosted at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre, from October 31 – November 2, 2019.

Organised by the Master Brewers Association of the Americas, the event is expected to attract some 500 craft brewers from across North America for two days of workshops, keynote presentations and drinking.

Tressa Patrias, Director of Meeting Planning and Logistics for the Master Brewers Association, noted that the support from the Alberta Craft Brewers Association and Beer Canada, combined with the attraction of Calgary’s growing craft brewing ecosystem, were key in deciding to host the event in Calgary.

Patrias commented: “The brewing industry is a global market, and it’s important that we look at different locations to bring our conferences. It has been many years since we’ve taken the conference outside of the United States.”

During the conference the latest technical information in brewing is presented in workshops, technical sessions and keynote presentations, including brewery safety, operations, fermentation, flavour identification, nutritional labelling and more.

Patrias continued: “Our national conference provides world class education and valuable personal and development opportunities for our attendees.”

Delegates who hail from some 50 different countries will also have the opportunity to connect with local barley producers during pre-conference value chain field trips, including a visit to Canada Malting, the country’s largest malt producer. Patrias noted that connecting with Meetings and Conventions Calgary was central to organising the technical tours.
