AFRICA – Ten graduates have started a year-long internship programme at Spintelligent, a Cape Town-based conference and exhibition organiser.
Spintelligent Managing Director Philip Van Der Gucht says the interns were selected from 800 applications from graduates from universities around Cape Town.
The internship involves intensive training and, on a rotating basis, work in the company’s four main departments: Production, Sales, Marketing and Customer Services.
“They will become integral members of the teams and engage with customers at every opportunity,” says Van Der Gucht, who added that those that successfully go through the whole year may be offeredpermanent positions. We are looking forward to their contribution to the growth of our company and this industry.”
Spintelligent is part of the global company Clarion Events, and the organiser of industry forums such as African Utility Week, Clean Power Africa, African Education Week and the East and West African Power Industry Conventions.
“It’s very exciting to be part of this programme. I spent a year unemployed and it’s comforting to know that my hard earned degree will not go to waste,” said one of the interns, Nomvuyo Tena from Port Elizabeth.
Linda Madyira from Umkata said the programme had given a chance to learn about events. “The company has different departments that suit each person’s character, so I never get bored at work,” she said.
