Organisers of international property conference MIPIM have confirmed the event will not now be taking place on its rescheduled June date.
The annual three-day real estate festival that traditionally takes place in Cannes, France, had been originally scheduled to have run in early March, but was postponed to June due to the threat of coronavirus.
Now the rearranged date of 2-5 June has proven to be too problematic.
A two-day gathering of real estate and technology leaders in Paris in September is promised as a stop-gap, with organisers also promising an online experience, MIPIM Connect.
Organisers did confirm plans to hold MIPIM next year in its usual time and place – Cannes on 16-19 March, 2021.
Filippo Rean, Real Estate Division Director at MIPIM organiser Reed MIDEM, said: “It is clear that holding a large MIPIM tradeshow in Cannes in June is not feasible given the rapid spread, devastating impact and uncertain evolution of the virus.
“As it is not possible to organise a traditional MIPIM by the end of this year, we are planning a different form of gathering for clients in the autumn in Paris, plus a digital experience, MIPIM Connect.”
