New York’s CVB and tourism promotion board, NYC & Company, has announced the promotion of Jerry Cito (pictured) to Executive Vice-President, Convention Development.
Cito, who joined NYC & Company in 2001, continues to lead the organisation’s global convention and MICE development, overseeing NYC & Company’s network of global sales representatives, plus dedicated global MICE representatives in the UK.
Cito serves as a trustee on PCMA’s Foundation Board and is a founding member and current Executive Committee member of the US Travel Association’s Meetings Mean Business Coalition. He also sits on both Destination International’s Sales & Marketing Committee and the MPI US Council. The move follows Hills Balfour’s Ruth Bennett and Margherita Ducati being appointed at the end of January to lead New York City’s Convention Development and PR in the UK and Europe. Bennett has the role of Senior Manager, European MICE, and Ducati, Sales Executive, European MICE NYC & Company.
Bennett joined Hills Balfour in January 2016 working with NYC & Company and other agency accounts. With over eight years of experience working in the MICE industry, Bennett’s previous roles include several years spent working in-house at London & Partners.
“We have an exciting year ahead, kicking off with visits to key agencies in Italy and our European roadshow, then visiting Germany and Poland later in the year, among other initiatives. I’m delighted to further educate planners across Europe on the countless only-in-NYC opportunities and experiences,” said Bennett.
