Rise in exhibitors and visitors for AIME 2020

Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) 2020 takes place from Monday 17 – Wednesday 19 February.

The event will feature an increase in exhibitor and visitor numbers over last year, with 330 exhibitors and 2,500 delegates registered.

Organisers Talk2 Media & Events say they have decided to continue with the event despite the challenges faced by the Covid-19 coronavirus and bushfires in the region.

Matt Pearce, CEO of Talk2 Media & Events said: “When working in any event you’ll always have to consider the ‘what if’ – whether it’s meeting guest expectations or being challenged by a global crisis.

“For AIME in particular, the travel restrictions imposed by the Australian Federal Government in response to the coronavirus for travellers arriving from mainland China have impacted only a small percentage of the show’s total buyer and exhibitors at AIME.

“Ultimately, we are the first large-scale event of the year and we know people are keen to get on with and drive their businesses. This is even more true this year – and we are looking forward to seeing positive business connections come to life.”

Canberra Convention Bureau will also be launching its annual copy of the Canberra Meeting Planners Guide at AIME 2020 on Tuesday 18 February.

The Meeting Planners Guide provides meeting planners with up-to-date information about Canberra’s conference facilities, accommodation, catering, attractions and activities, and technical and support services.

Michael Matthews, CEO at Canberra Convention Bureau, commented: “The launch of our Meeting Planners Guide is much anticipated by our clients and industry, and is all the more timely this year as it launches off the back of Business Events Australia’s ‘Event Here This Year’ campaign, encouraging meeting planners to consider domestic destinations, such as Canberra, to host conferences and events.”
