AMERICAS – The San Diego Convention Center Corporation (SDCCC) is transferring its citywide sales and marketing efforts to the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau (SDCVB), effective 1 July 2012.
The realignment of responsibilities allows the destination to be more effective in the national group meetings market by providing a unified sales and marketing programme for the entire San Diego region.
“This change comes at a critical time in San Diego’s tourism industry recovery,” satated Joe Terzi, President and CEO of the SDCVB. “The competition for business remains fierce, and it requires new ways of doing business to make certain San Diego remains top of mind among our competitors,” Terzi added.
“The transition will be seamless to our customers and is an important move as the destination looks to support the Phase 3 expansion of the convention center,” said Carol Wallace, President and CEO of SDCCC. Management and operations of the 241,547sqm facility will remain with the SDCCC.
