The Seoul Tourism Organization has announced its new campaign, “value tourism, together with Seoul”, following its restructuring into a wholly government-funded foundation.
STO’s president and CEO Jaesung Rhee shared the group’s aim to create a sustainable city by promoting Seoul’s tourism industry. They intend to grow the value of Seoul tourism together with local residents.
STO also announced the Discover Seoul Pass – a purchased pass originally designed for international tourists that gives free admission and discounts at major attractions. It will also provide tourism education opportunities for local residents.
Rhee stated: “The Seoul Tourism Organization plans to create more opportunities to share its projects, direction, and status and listen to the opinions of residents, visitors, and tourism industry professionals.”
The announcement follows STO’s ‘Seoul Tourism Hearing Week’, which took place from 27 August – 3 September. It allowed the group to receive public comments on its new vision and planned projects.
International tourists, tour guides, and representatives from hotels, convention centres, PCOs, startups, and other tourism-related businesses attended to voice their ideas for improving local tourism and promoting Seoul as a travel and meetings destination.
