TCI Network has chosen Sofia, Bulgaria as the location and host for its European Conference in 2018. The regional conference of TCI is designed for promoting closer ties among cluster practitioners in Europe.
Founded in 1998, TCI Network is a global practioners’ network for competitiveness, clusters and innovation. It has 450 active members in 46 countries and drew 800 participants to its 2016 TCI conferences.
The organisation’s annual flagship event is the TCI Global Conference, which attracts around 500 participants.
The 2018 conference programme promises to be varied and will encourage 1:2:1 meetings as well as plenary sessions.
Sofia Municipality, in an alliance with consulting cluster Veritas and Association of Business Clusters of Bulgaria, will welcome the TCI European Conference 2018 to Bulgaria’s capital Sofia, a city that has seen rapid development including in the city’s digital entrepreneurship environment.
Conference delegates will also have the opportunity to explore world-class cultural attractions, monuments and natural environment.
Priority sectors for development in the Bulgarian economy include energy, bio-agriculture, tourism, IT sector and cultural industries and 2018 is already a very important year for Bulgaria, which has the EU Council Presidency from 1 January to 31 June 2018.
Plovdiv, the second largest city in Bulgaria, will be the European Capital of Culture in 2019.
The TCI European Conference 2018 should also provide an opportunity to expand the worldwide knowledge and understanding about the entire Balkan region.
