Sydney shines with 3 Asian incentives in Q1 2016

Sydney and regional New South Wales (NSW) will host 8,000 international delegates who are joining one of the three incentive programmes taking place in March, April and May of this year. The incentive trips coming to Sydney are the direct selling company, Amway Taiwan in March, the Nu Skin greater China 2016 Success Trip in April, and the Cathay Life Taiwan Summit in May. CEO of Business Events Sydney, Lyn Lewis-Smith, said: “Asia continues to be a key driver of incentive business into NSW. In the last three years, BESydney has secured an estimated A$230m (US$166.39m) worth of Asian incentive business and we’ve seen 20% year-on-year growth over the past decade in the value of events secured out of this region.” BESydney has so far secured 68 international business events for 2016 and 2017 calendar years, worth an estimated A$192m (US138.90m) in direct expenditure for the state. Meanwhile, international and domestic hosted buyers, industry professionals and media were treated to a feast at the Business Events Australia and Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) lunch yesterday, welcoming guests to the 2016 Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME). MCEC’s Melbourne Room was transformed into a beach setting, complete with a Kombi Van drinks bar, retro ice cream stations, tropical plants, and sand and coral features to align with Tourism Australia’s current aquatic and coastal campaign. Tourism Australia’s managing director, John O’Sullivan, said: “AIME is an important part of the industry’s annual events calendar and we are pleased to be here to once again support the Australian business events industry.” MCEC executive chef, Peter Haycroft, created the summer feast menu and said it was a modern take on the traditional Australian Summer BBQ utilising Victoria’s seasonal produce. Peter King, MCEC’s chief executive, said: “It’s always an absolute pleasure to host the AIME community at MCEC and we’re looking forward to another fantastic two days of networking, education and business this year.” Guests were also treated to sounds from local Melbourne independent band, Playwrite while they networked over lunch.
