Uncover the Caucasus for conferencing

The countries in the Caucasus region have been investing heavily in their tourism industries in recent years. Indeed, Georgia made US$217m from the tourism sector in 2019, while Azerbaijan’s tourist flow has risen 11% over the past year.

One professional event series presenting the Caucasus to MICE professionals is MMP Forums, a series of B2B workshops organised by BTL Group.

The 7th international MICE&Event Forum took place in Baku recently, sponsored by the Azerbaijan Convention Bureau, Absheron Hotels Group, Zagulba Palace and Konsis Group.

The city of winds and fire welcomed hosted buyers at the JW Marriott Absheron Baku Hotel where they were joined by a selection of suppliers, including BCD Travel, Hilton Batumi, Fairmont Baku, Holiday Inn, Radisson Collection and Sheraton Grand.

The hosted buyers came France, Russia, Ukraine. Kazakhstan, UAE and Poland.

A gala dinner was held in Zagulba Palace and a pre-tour of Baku, allowed buyers to explore the Old Town and take part in master classes on cooking Baku gourmet food and painting ceramics.

Culmination of the tour was an evening on the 19th floor of the Fairmont Hotel rocked by some fiery music from a local DJ.

A post-tour for all forum participants headed to Gabala, a historical region of Azerbaijan where guests enjoyed a cable car ride in the mountains, a sunset tea ceremony and collected grape juice for wine at the Chabiant winery.

There was a ‘hot’ dinner with national dances in Shamakhi.
