Indonesian president opens SE Asia's largest convention and exhibition centre

ASIA – Indonesian president Joko Widodo, attended the grand opening ceremony of the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), which claims to be the largest convention centre in South East Asia. ICE was built by PT. ICE is a 22-hectare project located in BSD City in the South Tangerang district. After stage one of construction, the venue will offer 116,000sqm of display space for events of all sizes. Mark Schloesser, president director of Deutsche Messe Venue Operations, said: “ICE features 10 exhibition halls over 50,000sqm. There are also 50,000sqm of outdoor display area and a 4,000sqm convention centre with 33 meeting rooms.” ICE was built to promote further development in Indonesia’s MICE industry. And the 220,000sqm first phase includes a four-star hotel with 295 rooms and parking facilities. Additional hotels, office buildings and additions to Indonesia Convention Exhibition will follow in the second stage of construction.
