AI translation platform Wordly says it has saved the live events industry more than $100m in production costs since launching in 2019, as organisers face growing pressure to reduce spending while maintaining international reach.

The company, which provides real time AI translation and captioning for live events, said demand for multilingual experiences continues to grow despite rising costs across venues, staffing, travel and production.

Traditionally, adding languages to an event has required interpreters, audio equipment and on-site technical support, with costs increasing for each additional language. Wordly’s cloud-based platform instead delivers live translation and captions directly to attendees’ devices across multiple languages simultaneously.

According to the company, the platform has now supported more than one billion minutes of translated content across 120 countries.

“The $100 million in savings we’ve tracked represents a breaking point in event production economics,” said Lakshman Rathnam. “With costs rising everywhere, organisers are being forced to make tough choices.”

The company has also launched an ROI calculator designed to help organisers compare the cost of traditional interpretation services with AI-led translation workflows.

Rathnam added: “What we’re seeing is a shift where organisers want to reduce costs and expand reach in a way that is financially sustainable. AI translation makes both possible at the same time.”
