A new-look event ‘BE Immersed: Cairns & Great Barrier Reef’ is to replace the long-running Sell TNQ [Tropical Northern Queensland] educational programme for Australian meeting planners. The programme did not run in 2020. Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef general manager Rosie Douglas said the Sell TNQ had successfully showcased the region’s business events products and capability for 20 years and that BE Immersed: Cairns & Great Barrier Reef had been “revolutionised” to build on and refresh the successful components of Sell TNQ. “With meeting planners eager to start work on reactivating the business events industry, it is timely to evolve our key educational programme to meet the needs and expectations of our business events clients,” Douglas said. BE Immersed: Cairns & Great Barrier Reef will be held 6-9 May. “Robust COVID-safe practices, wide open spaces and small population bases will be part of the new considerations for meeting planners wanting to stage successful events in the post-pandemic world,” said Douglas. “However, they will not want to compromise on quality and Cairns & Great Barrier Reef is one of the few regional areas with the business events infrastructure and industry professionalism to successfully compete with capital cities as a global meeting destination. “With the world’s oldest rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef as the backdrop, meeting planners will explore venues for empowering meetings, unique off-site events, enriching teambuilding challenges and post-touring options.” Registrations to attend BE Immersed: Cairns & Great Barrier Reef are now open and interested planners can submit their application to attend here.
