With a lineup of over 1,000 speakers, South by Southwest Sydney will tackle every issue facing the creative industries from 14-20 October. The expo will take place in the ICC Sydney Exhibition Halls. It is the official Asia Pacific instalment of North America’s South by Southwest, launched in Austin, Texas, in 1987.
Destination New South Wales CEO Steve Cox praises ICC Sydney for the features that enable it to host such an ambitious event: “As the anchor venue for SXSW Sydney, the outstanding event facilities at ICC Sydney contribute immensely to the success of the festival and to the event experience of attendees”. Cox describes Sydney as “the major events and creative industries capital of the Asia Pacific”.
Canva’s co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins (pictured) will present the opening keynote on Monday 14 October. She will be joined by renowned venture capitalist Mary Meeker to discuss the evolution of Canva from idea to startup to world-leading design platform.
Other major speakers include New York Times bestselling author Johann Hari, human rights lawyer Jennifer Robinson and GRAMMY®-nominated music artists The Kid LAROI and Jorja Smith.
