At PCMA Convening Leaders conference at George R Brown Convention Center (Houston, Texas) on 14 January, Destination Canada will be offering an unconventional breakout session. Offering each attendee a headset, the tourism board will invite you to walk outdoors while listening to an audio presentation on sustainable event planning by TED speaker and Newfoundland forager Lori McCarthy.

McCarthy will guide participants through strategies to designing events that combine sustainability with effectiveness. Those that participate will also have the opportunity to chat with McCarthy in person at the Canada booth on the show floor after the session.

The PCMA Convening Leaders conference will run from 12-15 January 2025. This unconventional session comes as part of Destination Canada’s multi-year marketing campaign “Leave Inspired. Not Tired” – a response to research showing that delegates increasingly crave new ideas and perspectives, but often leave business events feeling drained and tired.

Destination Canada reports that attendees wishing to join the session should go to room 330 in the George R Brown Convention Center at 10:40 on Tuesday, 14 January for a brief introduction and to pick up a set of headphones. Participants will be guided outside at 11:00 to listen in to the livestream from 11:10-11:30 in the Discovery Green Park.

Organisers recommend that those interested come early as space is limited to 100 participants, operating on a first come first served basis. For more information, visit the “Walk ‘n Talk” webpage.
