The Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) has announced the appointment Stuart Bone as finance director.
Bone, who joins the conference centre from Glasgow-based company CMS Window Systems, previously worked with EICC CEO Marshall Dallas during his seven-year-long position as finance manager at Nuffield Health.
Long serving finance director Les Florence had retired from the business earlier this year.
Dallas, said: “Stuart joins our team as we face, in common with the rest of the UK business events industry, the most challenging time in recent history. At the same time, we remain confident about a phased return of business events over time and we know we will be a stronger business when we come out of Covid. Having Stuart on board is a great fit and we look forward to his contributions going forward.”
Bone, added: “I am delighted to have joined the EICC’s Executive Team who are responsible for Scotland’s leading conference centre. The organisation has been on a sustainable growth trajectory over the last five years having grown revenues in the corporate and international association markets and whilst this is a challenging time for the events industry, I’m energised to help the EICC team through this difficult period. We hope to welcome business events back to our venue in the near future.”
The EICC marks its 25th anniversary later this month and is set to report annual results for 2019.
In May, the EICC launched a new hybrid events model, Make it Edinburgh Live, which was created to enable the venue team to run conferences and events entirely online or via a combination of online and in situ.
The EICC will also operate a hotel in the £350m Haymarket Edinburgh development. The development will also contain a hotel school and is being funded by M&G Real Estate and will be developed by the QMile Group.
Marshall Dallas has also won the Small to Medium Business Director award at the IOD Scotland Director of the Year awards.
