EUROPE – Luxembourg is set to benefit from greater access to meetings and events space after Artexis Easyfairs signed a partnership deal to develop the city’s Libramont Exhibition and Congress centre (LEC). The LEC is home to the Libramont Fair, an annual horticultural and agricultural show, which attracts about 200,000 visitors in the last week of July. The fair organiser said the site, which offered 25,000sqm indoor space and 300,00sqm outdoor space, was vacant for most of the year. “In order to remedy this problem, the LEC management turned to Artexis Easyfairs,” a company statement said. As part of a three-year deal, Artexis Easyfairs will provide strategic advice to LEC management and the Libramont Fair to develop the venue as a preferred venue for the MICE sector. “By joining forces we can both get ahead,” said Artexis Easyfairs chief executive, Eric Everard. LEC chairman Benoît Greindle added: “We have total confidence in Artexis Easyfairs and our independence is guaranteed. We work for the benefit of the Walloon Region and Libramont.” Artexis Easyfairs owns Belgium venues Flanders Expo, Antwerp Expo and manages Namur Expo, Namur Palais des Congrès, the Nekkerhal and MICX. As preparation for its plans, the company surveyed visitors and exhibitors at the fair’s most recent edition, held on 24-27 July.
