Conference delegates heading to Ottawa now have a faster way to reach the city’s downtown core. The new Light Rail Transit (LRT), known as the O-Train, has been extended to Macdonald-Cartier International Airport, connecting arrivals directly to downtown Ottawa in under 30 minutes.

For organisers booking international conferences at the Rogers Centre and other downtown venues, the new transit link could improve delegate experience. Lesley Pincombe, vice-president of meetings and major events at Ottawa Tourism, said the development will help to strengthen Ottawa’s position as a top-tier event destination.

“The LRT extension ensures delegates experience Ottawa’s efficiency and hospitality from the moment they land,” Pincombe said.

Beyond convenience, the extension is part of Ottawa’s sustainability push, providing an eco-friendly transport option that reduces reliance on cars and supports the city’s growing reputation for green travel.

This expansion comes with a series of recent event infrastructure investments in Ottawa, including new hotels, upgraded venues and expanded international flight routes.
