The Prague Convention Bureau has announced that the Czech capital will host the Union of International Associations’ (UIA) Round Table, 12-13 November, 2020.
The venue will be the Vienna House Diplomat Prague. Prague’s bid was won in competition with four other offers.
The UIA Round Tables are organised annually by the Union of International Associations, the research institute and documentation centre established in 1907 and based in Brussels. The Round Tables are the core of UIA’s education project, and provide an opportunity to learn through networking and practice how to better run associations.
Clara Fernández López, External Relations Manager at UIA, said: “Choosing Prague gives us the opportunity to hold the event in a country which balances the regional presence of UIA with this event. And this is part of the mission of UIA.”
The UIA Round Tables are usually attended by approximately 150 participants from around the world, of which 70–80% are association representatives.
“We are honoured to have a chance to welcome these people involved in running associations at the UIA Associations Round Table here in the Vienna House Diplomat Prague, that is now undergoing an extensive renovation, and introduce them to what the city can offer for their meetings,” says Roman Muška, Managing Director at the Prague Convention Bureau.
Prague will take as Round Table host from Brussels, where the UIA Round Table is held every other year.
This year’s UIA 12th Round Table took place in France 15-16 November 2018, and drew 127 attendees to host venue Lyon Convention Centre.
The 15th Round Table will return to Brussels again, while Rotterdam is host for the 16th edition. More information about the UIA and Associations Round Tables can be found here.
