Rotary International District 3310 has announced its upcoming District Conference (DISCON) 2024, will take place in the Malaysian city of Kuching, Sarawak, 17-19 May 2024. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Kuching, the event will be held under the theme ‘Celebrating Hope,’ symbolising the club’s steadfast commitment to its mission of ‘Creating Hope in the World’. Organisers say DISCON 2024 also serves as an ideal stopover for Rotary members worldwide, strategically positioned just over an hour’s flight away from the upcoming Rotary International Convention in Singapore. The city hosts say attendees can immerse themselves in the rich blend of culture, explore the breathtaking natural beauty, savour local cuisine, and experience the warm hospitality of Kuching’s inhabitants. “The conference will feature a diverse range of engaging activities, including an exciting round of golf at the Sarawak Golf Club, a welcome dinner set against the scenic backdrop of the Sarawak River, and a conference featuring sessions by distinguished speakers. The pinnacle of the event will be the Governor’s Banquet,” said Dr John Chan, district governor of Rotary International District 3310. DISCON 2024 is also aiming to make a mark in the Malaysia Book of Records for the largest gathering of people in ethnic wear, at a session that will culminate in a choreographed dance. In March 2023 the Rotary Club of Kuching announced the adoption of a baby orangutan born in the wild in Sarawak and DISCON 2024 delegates will have the privilege of witnessing the official naming (‘Hope’), as its birth certificate is signed. DISCON 2024 is supported by Business Events Sarawak and managed by Place Borneo Sdn Bhd. For more information visit www.rotarydistrict3310.org.my.
