UIA’s hybrid Round Table Europe draws 131 delegates in Prague

Union of International Associations’ (UIA) 14th Associations Round Table Europe took place at the Prague Congress Centre, Czech Republic between 18-19 November. Hosted by the Prague Convention Bureau (PCB), the event took place in a hybrid format with 131 delegates, representing 98 international organisations in total. Fifty-eight participants attended in-person.

Plenary sessions were presented on associations in the world: speaking truth to power and achieving goals, finding partners: UIA’s global civil society database. Interactive workshops addressed current topics such as:

  • Membership retention and engagement
  • Application of artificial intelligence in society
  • Empowering teams by design thinking
  • Organisation of hybrid events
  • Relations between the United Nations system and civic associations.

The presentations and workshops were led by association experts and the delegates which shared and discussed their associations’ experience, challenges and solutions.

Jacques de Mévius, secretary general of UIA, said: “The hybrid format, which has been made possible by the PCB and its technology partners, has given any association in Europe and beyond, the opportunity to be part of this learning and networking event for associations. Round Table Europe 2021 has been a successful and a joyful event for association delegates, and no less for the PCB and UIA.”

Roman Muška, managing director of the PCB, added: “The hybrid format proved its great value in terms of flexibility and inclusivity. Even in the current unpredictable time we were able to deliver the full content to all delegates who decided to join the Round Table, but finally could not come to Prague in-person. Moreover, the hybrid concept allowed us to include a remote speaker on a very last moment.”
