Mark Felstead takes us on a unique venue tour in Germany’s capital city
Ready to Bounce Back into Business? Not quite yet, we know, but why not use the time for a new kind of exclusive show around and seize an opportunity for some new inspiration.
Although Berlin is, like much of the rest of the world, in something of a Dornroeschen (sleeping beauty) slumber at the moment, we should certainly not be forgetting about what we enjoy and use this time to gather new ideas!
I am certainly not used to waiting for any Prince (or Princess) to kiss me back into life, so decided to take the initiative and my own camera phone exclusively for CMW into one of Berlin’s jewels in its Event Spaces crown – The AXICA Conference and Congress Centre – the only certified sustainable event venue and premium caterer in the heart of Berlin.
The AXICA not only enjoys a terrific location, next to the iconic Brandenburg Gate, it is also one of the city’s architectural highlights, designed as it was by world renowned architect Frank Gehry.
Gehry has his own inimitable style as can be seen around the world at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Vitra Design Museum and the Walt Disney Concert Hall, to name but three, and here in Berlin, the AXICA certainly leaves the Gehry mark, as well as a mark on Gehry. “The best thing I have ever done,” he has often been quoted as saying.
AXICA has certainly been designed in an unique and unusual way and has become one of the most sought-after event locations in the world.
‘Expect the Unexpected’ is the venue’s motto and my ‘ghost tour’ around what is usually a thriving meetings space gave me an eerie but, at the same time, extraordinary opportunity to explore.
So, follow me on my video tour and then watch out, too, for the subsequent podcast where individuals from Berlin events scene will be talking about their own favourite places and experiences from the city’s rich landscape.
Life may not be much of a cabaret right now, but the Berlin event community’s spirit is not dimmed in lockdown and, above all, is bubbling away, ready and eager to bounce back into business.
I look forward also to hearing your own stories and creative activities for staying in event shape for the times to come.
