Kuching, Sarawak (Malaysia) has won the bid for the 15th World Congress and Exhibition on Design and Health (WCDH), scheduled for 29 September – 2 October 2026. WCDH 2026 will be co-organised by University Malaysia Sarawak and the International Academy for Design and Health.
Over 1,000 delegates from around the world are expected. They will convene to share insights on health-focused urban design – creating environments that support wellness and quality of life. The focus is on interdisciplinary collaboration across architecture, healthcare, psychology and design industries.
The deputy premier and minister for public health, housing and local government Sarawak Dr Sim Kui Hian commented: “This objective resonates with Sarawak’s ambitions to advance health-focused events that foster sustainable environments and economic development under the WHO Healthy City initiatives and Post-Covid Development Strategy 2030.”
In 2024, Kuching was recognised as the 11th cleanest city in the world by IQAir, a Swiss-based air quality technology company. Far outranking Kuala Lumpur (which ranks 84th), Kuching is positioned to attract more health and wellness events due to this accolade.
