Organisers have released final figures on the results of the 15th edition of FIEXPO Latin America, the region’s leading meetings industry trade fair, which returned in person in Panama City 13-16 June. The show gathered over 2,500 participants, including exhibitors, visitors and industry professionals.
The new Panama Convention Center, situated near the entrance to the Panama Canal, was hosting for the first of three consecutive years. Organisers say there were 390 exhibitors, 860 hosted buyers and trade visitors, and 9,200 business meetings held during this year’s show. They estimated these meetings will generate an average of $391m in business and over $6m in investment on behalf of the fair at the destination.
Panama City how has approximately 20,000 rooms, and 10,000 more throughout the rest of the country. The destination is the only place in the world where visitors can see the sun rise over the Pacific Ocean and set over the Caribbean Sea in the same day.
Panama’s new tourism brand platform ‘Live for More’ was on show at FIEXPO and inspired meeting planners to participate in the country’s cultural and tourism experiences, including visits to ethnic communities, natural parks, Caribbean beaches and the Panama Canal.
The country also highlighted on its show stand the opportunities for visitors to hear about the 2020-2025 Sustainable Tourism Master Plan, recognised by UNESCO, and about the opportunities the plan offers planners for participation in connected activities.
