Construction crews are moving in to start work in Denver, USA, on a two-year US$200m renovation project to renovate the Colorado Convention Center. They will be building a 7,432sqm column-free multipurpose room (the largest ballroom in Colorado), renovating the lobby area and an outdoor terrace on the roof of the existing facility. There will also be upgrading of the centre’s technology.
Planners expect that the new facilities could handle as many as 25 additional events per year, generating an estimated $85m.
The project is expected to be complete in late 2023, although the plan is to continue to operate the centre during the construction process.
The expansion project is projected to create or support 2,691 jobs, including skilled trades and apprenticeships.
