Armani Hotel Dubai has been awarded Green Globe certification, an award that underlines the hotel’s commitment to sustainability best practices. An affiliate member of the UN World Tourism Organisation, Green Globe is an international sustainability system for travel and tourism businesses. It is based in California, USA and is represented in over 83 countries. Armani Hotel Dubai won the certification following a comprehensive audit. All incandescent lights were replaced with power saving LEDs and motion detectors were installed in back office areas. Installing water saving devices and water aerators resulted in big decreases in water consumption at the hotel. The hotel is also part of the UAE Food Bank, an initiative announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE vice-president and prime minister and ruler of Dubai. The initiative includes a food waste recycling machine that has helped the hotel achieve its zero-food waste goal. The hotel has also created a Green Page on guestroom iPads to engage and involve guests in its various sustainability initiatives.
