The International Convention Center in Jerusalem drew 6,000 investors and entrepreneurs and other corporate delegates, 1 February for the OurCrowd Global Investor Annual Summit. OurCrowd claims to be the world’s largest mass investment fund and has 25,000 investors from 112 countries who have invested US$650m in 8,500 companies. Jonathan Medved, CEO and founder of OurCrowd suggested focusing investing in drones, medical robotics and agricultural technology. Also present at the conference was the Mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat, and the CEO of the ICC Mira Altman. Medved told the initial plenary session that, even in the current technological era there is no substitute for a face-to-face interaction between the investor and the company, and he called on the thousands of investors to go to every corner at the ICC building and meet those who expect an investment. Following the plenary, investors were given the opportunity to meet face-to-face with representatives of the companies and start-ups they believe in. Next month a new train line will start operating from Tel Aviv and the airport to Jerusalem. That means significant cuts to delegate travel time. Photo credit: Noam Preisman
