The Virtual Events Institute (VEI) has been launched as a global platform to bring those in the global event industry together to “educate, discuss, inspire and do business”. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, virtual events and experiences now play a crucial role within the event industry. The VEI aims to provide a platform to discuss virtual and hybrid events and deliver summits, market insights, community networking, certification training and awards. The community will also establish the best practices and innovation for all members. The VEI will launch with a 10-module certification training course, which will be delivered by subject matter experts, and will focus on the key skills and knowledge needed to excel at planning and executing virtual events. Co-founder of LinkedIn, entrepreneur and VEI advisor, Eric Ly, said: “I believe there is a great opportunity in the virtual and hybrid approach to events and I am excited to play a key role in advancing the cause.” The 10-module certification course will commence in August and the module content will include how to attract and engage your audience; how to monetise and create new revenue streams; how to create compelling content and maintain audience attention; how to choose the right platform and technology; how to deliver a successful virtual event on the day and more to be announced. Co-founder and director of VEI, RD Whitney, said: “As innovation evolves us eventually towards a hybrid event future, VEI will become the trusted community of experts to discover, learn and share best practices in the rapidly evolving virtual event industry. The launch of the VEI certification program will set the standard and help raise the bar for virtual event evolution around the world.” The Virtual Events Institute Advisory Board is comprised of senior global market leaders who come from the worlds of tradeshows, corporate events, HR, investment, sports and media. Co-founder and CEO of the VEI, Sophie Ahmed, added: “The VEI will provide valuable connections, knowledge and insight for the community to evolve event experiences and the VEI certification program will provide the ideal learning platform.”
