From 28-30 October, a pop-up staged at Phonica Records in London’s Soho district invited its visitors to experience Iceland. The pop-up was established by Icelandair in partnership with Inspired by Iceland, Blue Lagoon, and Iceland-based clothing brand 66° North, to demonstrate that Iceland as a destination is ‘only around the corner’. Aiming to showcase the country’s tourism appeal, the pop-up featured interactive recreations of Iceland’s natural wonders such as its ice caves, glaciers, and volcanos. For afternoon and evening entertainment, the event provided local food, a photo exhibit, a ‘lava show’, and held several talks from experts. The event was run in the leadup to the 2022 Iceland Airwaves festival, performers for which were staged at the pop-up. The gallery below explores the event in more detail.
