Convening Leaders 2023

Industry association PCMA kicked off the New Year in January Stateside with its Convening Leaders 2023 get-together in Columbus, Ohio. The convention drew 3,300 attendees and there were keynotes from Allyson Felix, Adam Grant, and Daniel Pink. PCMA president and CEO Sherrif Karamat announced a new strategic plan — one that he described as “blazing a new trail forward, with and for the global business events community.” The plan includes the acquisition of Event Leadership Institute (ELI), ELI’s portfolio of learning solutions and content, and the acquisition of the Event Marketing Association-UK (EMA-UK). Also announced was a partnership with the American Geophysical Union (AGU), a global earth and space science association with approximately 65,000 members, many of whom are climate scientists. The partnership will focus on sustainable event design. A strategic alliance with the National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals (NCBMP) was also announced by Karamat.
