The Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) is launching the second edition of its interactive Melbourne e-Guide. The goal behind the e-Guide is to educate and influence business event planners about the MICE industry in Melbourne, with plans for the e-Guide including highlights of the city’s strengths as a destination for business events. The e-Guide is set to include venues such as the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Flemington, and Melbourne & Olympic Parks. In doing so, the MCB hopes to demonstrate creating MICE events and itinerary programmes around Melbourne’s major events – such as the Australian Formula 1™ Rolex Grand Prix. Through the e-Guide, event planners will also be updated on Melbourne’s new venue offerings for business events; the city’s Accor properties; hotel tips; and product and venue ideas. MCB CEO, Julia Swanson, explained that the Melbourne e-Guide sets an example of the planning tools MCB produces for event owners, planners, and delegates. Swanson added: “Melbourne is constantly evolving, innovating, and adapting to meet new needs in the business events sector.” “Both event planners and delegates will also find the e-Guide’s interactive map, used for researching and creating custom itineraries, a fantastic way to uncover all the exciting offerings available during, pre and post the business event.” The embedded interactive map in the e-Guide is aimed at event owners, planners, and attendees to plan their trip to Melbourne and create custom itineraries. The options will include site inspections, delegate tours and pre-and-post conference travel – aided by videos, images, 360-degree experiences, product descriptors and hyperlinks. Offering geographic location or category search functions such as Eat, Play, Relax, Conference and Caffeinate, the map will familiarise users with how to maximise their time in Melbourne. According to the MCB, the app will also include familiar map-app features such as real-time directions for travel.
