Between 10-12 September, 25 countries will compete in the first International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad – a new competition launched by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). The Olympiad will be launched as part of the Global AI Summit (GAIN), taking place at the King Abdulaziz International Convention Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Teams of up to four AI technology and software experts per country will compete individually over technical questions, attempting to problem-solve using AI technologies. The competition follows a five-week lecture series in which AI specialists and enthusiasts gathered to deepen their knowledge of the field.

Subsequent iterations of the Olympiad for school students will be launched in various countries around the world, encouraging young talent to engage with the topic of AI. The learning program and competition are being held in cooperation with the International Centre for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) and the International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence in Slovenia, a centre sponsored by UNESCO.
