Ottawa Tourism and The Hague Convention Bureau have just recognised a milestone at IMEX America – five years of successful partnership. The two bureaux brought delegates together for a celebratory breakfast, with 25 buyers from associations and corporates also in attendance.
Back in 2019, Ottawa and The Hague teamed up in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), seeking to attract more large-scale business events to their respective regions. The cities collaborated on: Joint sales activity through multiple channels, including live industry events Creation of joint research on mutually relevant sectors Identification of new clients where both cities are of interest Identification and introduction to clients of either city that would interest the other
It’s been an exciting journey watching our two cities grow and learn together – especially through the pandemic where we really supported each other and were able to share best practice,” Lesley Pincombe, Vice President, Business & Major Events at Ottawa Tourism.
Bas Schot, Head of The Hague Convention Bureau, added: “Our collaboration with Ottawa has been a catalyst for many successes, including the creation of the Hybrid City Alliance, which went on to include over 25 cities and won the ICCA Best Marketing Award.”
Also in attendance was Emma Jane Taylor from association management company (AMC) Dot the Eye. She said: “Both are incredible in their own right, however the synergy and opportunities that exist through their work together is invaluable to AMCs such as myself.”
