The Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC) has partnered with ICCA World to host an exclusive Association Day in Muscat this December. The three-day event will bring 10 international associations to Oman to explore the destination for future conferences and meetings.
An international association that brings even one major event to a destination will add huge economic benefit. The announcement was made during IMEX Frankfurt 2025.
OCEC and ICCA will co-organise the event, which will connect global associations with Oman’s business events sector – including the Oman Convention Bureau, local societies and tourism partners. Oman has decided to position business events as an important part of its tourism and knowledge economy strategy.
Past events, such as the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology World Congress, drew over 2,100 doctors from 88 countries and delivered significant benefits to the country – particularly to the medical and scientific communities.
“In Oman, the success of the business events industry relies on close collaboration between international and local associations,” said Eng. Said Al Shanfari, CEO of OCEC. “Offering them the chance to experience the destination firsthand and meet key stakeholders is essential.”
“Oman is an emerging leader in our industry,” added ICCA CEO Senthil Gopinath. “We are proud to co-create this opportunity with OCEC.”
OCEC will also host several high-profile events in 2025, including the Middle East Investor Relations Association Conference, the 18th Arab Steel Summit and the ICANN Annual General Meeting.
