FCM Meetings & Events has released its first Global Trends Report. The research shows a few major pieces of information. The first is that professional services companies host half of all corporate events. Clearly this sector is a massive player in the business events industry. The second is that Asia-Pacific has brighter growth prospects than the USA or Europe.

Professional services dominate event hosting

The research, conducted with Cvent across 28 countries and 22 industries, indicates that professional services companies host 50% of all corporate events. This sector also employs more in-house planners than any other industry.

Asia-Pacific leads in spending growth

Regional spending patterns show clear differences. Asia-Pacific leads with 47% of planners investing in larger events, compared to 42% in the Americas and 35% in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Looking ahead to 2025, 32% of Asia-Pacific planners expect to spend more on events. Europe follows at 28%, with the Americas at 26%.

Engagement drives event strategy

The research found 80% of respondents prioritise engagement as their primary meeting objective. Companies use events to build connections that drive innovation and strengthen internal culture.

Media, technology, travel and real estate sectors invest heavily in engagement-focused events. These industries rely on gatherings to foster collaboration and expand professional networks.

Budget uncertainty remains high

Nearly 40% of respondents lack clear visibility into their 2025 events budget. Among those with defined budgets, 43% plan to increase investment by 10% or more, while 39% will maintain current spending levels.

Event size and scale trends

Globally, 47% of companies focus on medium-to-large events with 50-150+ attendees. Larger events typically correlate with higher spending levels. The shift toward bigger events reflects strategic use of live gatherings to build brands, connect with stakeholders and strengthen company culture.

Technology adoption grows

Online venue sourcing has increased as planners face time and budget constraints. Traditional site visits decline as digital tools provide greater efficiency and flexibility.

Incentive travel programs show strong results, with 68% of companies reporting improved employee motivation and stronger relationships.

Industry outlook

The research indicates continued growth in corporate events since 2022. Success will depend on delivering personalized service, enabling responsible travel choices, and creating accessible, engaging experiences.

Professional services, real estate, travel and financial sectors lead in prioritizing human connection, with 60% or more of their events focusing on engagement rather than information delivery.
