A not-for-profit organisation has launched in Canada to support professionals across the country’s AV industry, with the Professional Audio Visual Society of Canada (PAVS.CA) aiming to “elevate AV professionals in Canada through networking, education, mentorship and advocacy.”

The society brings together individuals from sectors including live events, systems integration, film and broadcast, sales, distribution, programming and design. Career development is at the heart of the mission, with education, training and mentorship empowering members at every stage of their careers to expand their skills, grow their networks and stay ahead of industry trends. The society will offer bursary and scholarship programmes to help remove financial barriers to learning, while curated job boards will connect professionals. Networking opportunities will be provided through roundtables, industry events and meet-ups, while newsletters and podcasts will keep members informed. The PAVS.CA will promote AV as a rewarding career option to students and newcomers through outreach initiatives, public awareness campaigns and strategic partnerships. The society’s founding board of directors comprises Gregory Rushton, vice-president, Mulvey & Banani Audio Visual (chair); Mike Dilullo, vice-chairman, ACS group of Companies (co-chair); and Brock McGinnis, vice-president of sales and operations, Nationwide Audio Visual (secretary). “The AV industry in Canada is thriving, but it needs a unified voice and a clear pathway for growth,” said Rushton. “Our goal is to foster a vibrant, inclusive community that supports lifelong learning and opens doors for the next generation of AV professionals.”
