Puerto Rico has reported record results for its meetings and events sector, driven by new hotel projects, rising air arrivals and strong international demand. At IMEX America, Discover Puerto Rico said meetings performance was up 65% compared with pre-pandemic levels.
The island recorded $164.7m in economic impact from business events, a 16% year-on-year increase. Between July 2024 and June 2025, it secured 257,496 room nights. Forty-three citywide events are in the pipeline, worth an estimated $166m.
The island’s hotel sector continues to expand. The first Four Seasons Resort & Private Residences opened this year in Río Grande. New Hilton properties have launched in Dorado and The Ritz-Carlton San Juan is set to reopen in 2026.
ONE DISTRITO, an $80m development in the Convention District, will add 109 apartment-style units under the Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy brand in 2027. Several established hotels – including La Concha, Wyndham Rio Mar, Condado Vanderbilt and El Conquistador – have completed major refurbishments.
San Juan’s airport handled nearly 6.6m passengers in 2024, according to operator Aerostar. Puerto Rico has hosted industry events such as AMEX InterAction, ASAE Conclave, SITE Classic and PCMA EduCon.
It has also won the Cvent Excellence Award (Hometown Hero) and Stella Award for Best Convention Center – International and US Territories. Discover Puerto Rico has expanded its sustainability work through ‘The Green Path’ microsite and a 20,000-panel solar array at the Puerto Rico Convention Center.
