Corporate event budgets in the US are almost double those in Germany, according to research by Booking.com for Business.
Average corporate event spending reaches $33,200 (£26,500) in the US, compared to around €15,000 (£12,700) across Europe. The gap reflects variations in venue pricing, travel patterns and event scale, with US events typically involving larger attendee numbers, longer durations and higher accommodation and service costs.
Event sizes also differ significantly by region. In Germany, nearly half of conferences (49.5%) host 20-50 participants, reflecting a preference for medium-sized, interactive meetings. In the US, 35.8% of bookings are for meetings with 100-250 attendees, and 32.4% are for large events exceeding 500 participants.
Despite lower per-event spending, Germany hosted 2.02m in-person events in 2024, more than the UK and US, securing its position as a major global corporate events hub.
Across all markets, the total number of events increased by 52% in 2024, representing what the research described as a structural shift in corporate engagement, with more companies recognising the strategic impact of live events for business development, learning and brand positioning.
