Spring Hotels has appointed former Iberostar MICE manager Tania Mesa as director of groups & events, as the Tenerife hotel group expands its meetings and events business following its acquisition of Mare Nostrum Resort.
The newly created role comes as Spring Hotels adds one of the largest event infrastructures in southern Tenerife to its portfolio. Mesa will lead the development of the group’s groups and events division and oversee the next phase of growth in its international MICE business.
Mesa joins from Iberostar, where she spent almost nine years, most recently as MICE manager for the Canary Islands and Cape Verde. During that time, she led meetings and events activity across international markets and worked to promote Tenerife as a destination for meetings and incentive travel.
The appointment follows Spring Hotels’ acquisition of Mare Nostrum Resort in Playa de las Américas. The resort includes the Pirámide de Arona auditorium, which can accommodate up to 1,600 delegates, more than 20 meeting rooms and a 1,200sqm exhibition area.
Jo Robinson, chief sales officer at Spring Hotels, said: “We are delighted to welcome Tania to Spring Hotels at such an exciting and important moment for our groups and events business. Her extensive international experience, commercial expertise and strong industry relationships make her exceptionally well placed to support our continued growth.
“With the addition of Mare Nostrum Resort and its significant event infrastructure, we see a major opportunity to strengthen Spring Hotels’ appeal for congresses, corporate groups and incentive travel, while building even stronger relationships across our core markets.”
Mesa said: “The opportunity to help shape and grow the groups and events offering from this stage is incredibly exciting, particularly with the strength of facilities now available.”
