AUSTRALIA – Plans for a Perth Waterfront redevelopment have been released by the State Government, with a AU$440m (US$441m) price tag.
The project is due for completion by mid 2014 and will include extensive commercial and tourism aspects according to architects.
Planning Minister John Day said: “We estimate about 1,700 residential apartments, 100,000sqm of commercial floor space and about 39,000sqm of retail space and extensive tourism facilities.”
A cable car is also proposed.
Perth Convention Bureau’s MD Christine McLean said: “The green light for the waterfront project heralds the start of a development phase that is critical to Western Australia’s future.
“Together with the City Link project, this is our opportunity to transform the city in to a vibrant and appealing space for both residents and visitors alike,” she added.
