In the new CMW series of destination discussions, Iain Stirling Zooms Down Under to speak with Penny Lion, executive general manager events at Tourism Australia. Penny describes how Australia’s events industry has coped with the Covid-19 situation over the past nine months, and shares some ideas on the strategy for recovery in 2021 and beyond.

We hear about the current regulations – with Australia’s state borders a focus for initial reopening –  innovations at key venues and service providers. These include new hybrid studio options for events, as well as insight on how Melbourne’s CEC was used for a Liam Nesson Hollywood blockbuster and for training of guide dogs.

With Australia and New Zealand contemplating broadening a travel bubble, that could possibly go on to include destinations such as Hong Kong and Singapore, the video is a great opportunity to tune in to the current tourism board thinking for future international events co-operation.
