It’s not news to say that most of us fall into the economy line when travelling to our MICE events. But what about for those of us keen on travelling in style? No, not business class; we’re talking even further forward in the flight cabin.
Coinciding with the launch of Etihad’s first-class luxury suite ‘The Residence’, travel website Flightfox put together a list of the best 24 first class cabin experiences.
In order to do so, Flightfox assessed privacy, seat configuration, the type of champagne being served and, even, whether pyjamas were provided and how the obligatory caviar arrived.
And in a piece of research that is quite possibly the best demonstration of misunderstanding a market, the company also provided an assessment of the best price travellers can expect to pay for the privilege. The phrase ‘If you have to ask, then you can’t afford it’ springs to mind.
Nonetheless, Singapore Airlines soared to the top of the table while Hong Kong cruised into second place, with Cathay Pacific and Emirates landing bronze.
Etihad’s new luxury suite is live from December and pledges to give the most well-heeled flyers a three-room fully staffed suite, chauffeur to a private check-in and lounge, onboard butler, leather sofa, dining tables and in-flight personal chef.
The next piece of research, we hope, is how to look like anything other than an overgrown child in those pyjamas.
