Russian destination marketing company and global PCO Tsar Events has been leading the way for the Sputnik V vaccination campaign. The team were among the first volunteers on the first day (13 January) of Phase 2 of Russia’s mass vaccination programme, which sees travel and hospitality industry workers among those eligible to be vaccinated (along with IT and science specialists, social workers). Tsar Events MD and owner Alexander Rodionov led by example and was among the first to roll up his sleeves and tells CMW, “It feels very good!”. Russia has so far vaccinated over two million people and Rodionov believes it is “the beginning of the process of coming back to normal life. We cannot wait to start fully working again and see our beloved clients back in Russia. Vaccines are the only solution to get back to normal life as soon as possible”. Tsar Events also reports that Finnair is to resume flights from Helsinki to St Petersburg from 28 January and that all museums, theatres and cultural institutions reopened in Russian cities from 11 January 2021 under the ‘Safe Travel’ programme rules.
