AIDS2018 in Amsterdam has an important message for the world

This week has seen the AIDS2018 World Congress come to Amsterdam 23-27 July.

15,000 delegates were in attendance and the city of Amsterdam pulled out all the stops, branding the event from arrival at Schiphol airport.

The city-wide campaign spread the important messages of the convention via exhibitions such as ‘I will speak, I will speak’ at the old stock exchange (Beurs van Berlage).

The city even tweaked its traditional three crosses symbol into the three red ribbons, synonymous with AIDS campaigning.

Among the celebrity speakers for this 22nd World Congress were HRH Prince Harry and Elton John.

The main venue, the RAI Amsterdam, was fully decked out and welcoming, creating a World Village as part of the event.

The congress was last held in Durban in 2016 and goes to San Francisco in 2020.

Look out for September’s CMW in print for a full report.
