AIME to diversify for 2020 and predicts 50% jump in hosted buyer numbers

Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME), the annual Melbourne-based MICE industry tradeshow, has announced a mission to bring more diversity in business to the Asia Pacific region.

The 2020 edition takes place from 17–19 February, and organisers also say they expect a 50% increase in hosted buyers and 30% more exhibitors.

Organisers add that, seven months out from the 2020 show, AIME already has 65% of its show floor booked as well as half of the hosted buyer programme full.

Newly confirmed exhibitors include India Tourism, Fairmont Singapore, Minor Hotels and Taronga Zoo.

The 2019 event, the first under the colours of Talk2 Media & Events, showcased the organiser’s reimagined show format. “This year, we’re really upping the ante with some aggressive growth targets, which ultimately mean more positive commercial outcomes for buyers and exhibitors,” said Matt Pearce, CEO, Talk2 Media & Events.

60% of the world’s population is located in the Asia-Pacific region and Bernadette Panton, AIME Hosted Buyer Manager, has been building a programme designed for Asia-Pacific buyers.

The vast majority of attendees come from Asia Pacific with the remaining travelling from Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.

“Our most important task at the moment is ensuring that these buyers are properly vetted to certify they have business to place in the Asia Pacific region,” said Panton.

AIME will again run at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in February. More details:
